Why I Stopped Taking Apple Cider Vinegar Shots.

We’ve all seen the headlines; Apple Cider Vinegar Shots Can Do Wonders! Of course, like many of you – I gave into the hype. A shot of vinegar can stop me from getting sick? It can clear my acne? It can help my hair grow? Most importantly, it can help aid in weight loss!

Not only have I seen the trend on Pinterest, Instagram, and YouTube – I’ve had family and friends swear by it.

Therefore, I gave it a shot (ha-ha, get the pun?).

With minimal research – and by research, I mean watching various YouTube videos – I learned that diluting Apple Cider Vinegar is an absolute must. If I didn’t dilute it, the acid within the vinegar could run my teeth and my esophagus. Scary, right?

I had also learned that I couldn’t drink just any Apple Cider Vinegar, I needed to buy the Organic with Mother brand. Luckily, my local Walmart carried it. I definitely wasn’t going to put in much effort when it came to this hack.

I bought the bottle of Apple Cider Vinegar – with Mother and got to work. Every morning, before any breakfast, or coffee, I poured Apple Cider Vinegar into a shot glass. I then poured my shot into a mug, filling the rest of the mug with water. I stirred in a tablespoon of honey and a dash of cinnamon – all things that I was told would aid in weight loss as well. I then placed the mug into my microwave for a minute or so – creating a tea.

I then took a drink.

I am not lying when I say, it was absolutely disgusting. I do not know how people drink this every morning. I was a campion though; I finished that mug and I finished every mug from that morning on.

Here is why I stopped drinking my Apple Cider Vinegar shot. Not only was I forcing myself to drink this horrid tea, but it made me feel sick. It made my stomach burn and feel queasy after ingesting.

Apple Cider Vinegar is an aid in weight loss due to its ability to become an appetite suppressant. I found this true, but not the way it was described. After taking this shot, I did not want to eat because I felt sick, not because I wasn’t hungry. Once the queasiness has subsided, I ate a normal breakfast and went about my day. I was just as hungry a few hours later as I would have been without drinking the Apple Cider Vinegar.

While taking this shot every morning, I maintained a healthy diet and exercise routine. By the end of every week, not only did I not lose any weight – I had gained it.

Now, as a disclaimer, I am not going to blame weight gain on the Apple Cider Vinegar shot – this could easily be because of other reasons – such as; stress, lack of sleep, muscle gain, etc. I do not believe I gained weight because of drinking the Apple Cider Vinegar shot. However! I did not lose any weight either.

Reminding myself of the other beliefs that Apple Cider Vinegar can achieve – I didn’t see any change there either. I do not have much acne, but I have some on my chin. The acne remained the same. My hair remained just as dry and I remained just as un-sick as I had prior.

After deciding enough was enough, I put the mug down and took to a laptop. I ignored the Dr. Oz video that swore by this shot and went straight to the facts – or what I considered to be verified sources.

When talking about weight loss, it appears that many studies are only proven due to the calorie deficit the was accompanied by the shot. I’ll attach the source from UChicago Medicine down below.

Although there are many studies sharing that Apple Cider Vinegar doesn’t do much for weight loss when depended on alone, there are just as many studies proving it does a lot.

I still believe that Apple Cider Vinegar does a lot of magic tricks when applied topically, but I am a bit skeptical about what it does for me when ingesting it. Personally, I would ask your healthcare professional before ruining your morning with this horrid tea.

Take my experience with a grain of salt. This hack may work for many, but it just wasn’t for me. I wasn’t able to complete my monthly challenge – deciding my morning were to precious to be spending half of my time wishing I didn’t have to drink a vinegar tea.

Leave a comment below on your experience! I’d love to hear if it worked – or didn’t – for you!

One hack down, many to try!

I hope you all have a lovely day! Talk to you soon (:
