The Perfect Self-Care Sunday

We've all been seeing the That Girl trend floating around Tik Tok and Youtube. Well, That Girl, whether your striving to be her or not, stems from a girl that practices the perfect self-care Sunday.

Disclaimer, you can have a self-care Sunday any day of the week (or every day of the week).

Below, I'll share my perfect Self-Care Sunday and hopefully inspire you to create your own!

My self-care Sunday actually begins on Saturday. I don't know about you, but I hate waking up to a messy house. On Saturday, I do the best I can to just clean it all. I wipe, I scrub, I sweep, I mop - leaving me with a clean home on Sunday morning.

Sunday morning can go either way, so this is where you can begin to put your spin on things.

Today's self-care Sunday began with Yoga at Bull City Ciderworks - Durham. If you live in the Durham area, feel free to send me a message any time! I'm still pretty new and would love a friend to explore new things with. I would happily let you join me on my self-care Sunday!

Yoga was incredible this morning. From 10:45am - 11:45am. This was my first yoga class and I'll admit, I had no clue what I was doing. I even had to take some breaks here and there while everyone continued around me. It's important to remind yourself how proud you are of yourself. It may feel silly to go to new places alone and try things that you've never tried - but it's not silly, it's powerful! It's something to be really, really proud of.

After yoga, I decided to get some coffee. This is something I enjoy and rarely splurge on - especially if I'm alone. My self-care Sunday might look a lot different than what your ideal self-care Sunday looks like. I'm in a place where I'm learning how to spend more time in my own company. I'm very codependent, so going to yoga alone, getting coffee alone, and even going to Walmart alone are big gold stars for me!

While I get my coffee, I work on some Lazy Girl content. If working doesn't seem like self-care, ask yourself what you're passionate about, and then enjoy that. If you're creating a business, work on a part of your business that you enjoy. If you're not working on a business, enjoy some time with your pets, your friends, go on a hike, go for a swim - do anything that you may not normally do and enjoy it.

For those of you just wanting to crawl back into bed, don't worry - self-care Sundays include early bedtimes, but try to step out of your habits and treat yourself. I enjoy putting a bit of money to the side for my Sundays. If you are unable to splurge, that's totally fine! I enjoy hikes, walking around my neighborhood, and swimming in my friend's pool as alternatives! I find that being outside makes me feel incredible when compared to spending the day in bed (although I am not hating on a much-needed day in).

After your day on the town, I love returning home to my clean home and just relaxing. I'm currently rewatching One Tree Hill and New Girl. I suggest putting on your favorite show or starting a new one! Taking time for yourself to enjoy your favorite things. I even play on my phone - Tik Tok to be more specific. Is anyone else learning a lot on Tik Tok? I've totally gotten into crystals these past few months thanks to the app.

Next on the list, well after my binge session with my phone and snacks. I like to draw a bath.

Honestly, did we think self-care Sunday would not include a bath?

Here are the bath essentials:

  • Bubbles

  • Face Mask

  • Hair Mask

  • Lavender Anything (for relaxation)

  • A Good Book

If you're the type to lay back and relax with a glass of wine and eyes closed in your bath - more power to you! I'm not quite there yet. I can't just sit in a bath, so a book is my quick fix. Right now, I'm reading Watching You by Lisa Jewell and Atomic Habits by James Clear. One is more self help, while the other is a distraction from reality, depends on my mood.

If you're not a reader, I strongly suggest podcasts! I'm trying to find some more, so if you know any - please do not hesitate to suggest! Here are my current obsessions:

After my bath, I put on my favorite pajamas. No matter what, put on your favorite pajamas! Even if they're lingerie or you enjoy being naked - embrace it! Self-care Sunday is all about doing what you love and treating yourself.

I enjoy making myself a cup of tea, putting on my diffuser, and crawling into bed.

That's it, simple as can be - but I wake up Monday morning feeling fresh and refreshed.

It's important to remind yourself to be kind to yourself, to feel any emotion that comes up, and to treat yourself the way you deserve.

Self-care isn't selfish. It's necessary.
